The project Strategic plan for the development of laboratory activities in the area of monitoring the quality of drinking water in Georgia was implemented in a consortium of Czech companies Aquatest a.s., Ircon Ltd. and Vitrum Ltd. The leader of the association was the company Aquatest, a leading Czech company in the field of drinking water quality. The project was focused on assessing the current situation with regard to water laboratories and the drinking water control system in Georgia, offering a development strategy, including specific measures needed to fulfill the strategy within five years. The project also included a visit of Georgian experts in the Czech Republic and getting acquainted with modern trends and equipment used by water laboratories in the Czech Republic. The project was supported by the Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and was financed through the Czech Development Cooperation programme of Czech Development Agency.
The Ircon Ltd. company participated in the project mainly by evaluating the current state of Georgian water laboratories, including equipment and staff capacities. Furthermore, Ircon Ltd. coordinated professional activities leading to the setting of a strategic development plan and their final presentation at donors' conference, which took place at the Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure in October 2010. The company also co-organized a visit of Georgian experts to the Czech Republic.
